Trick question, if society can only be saved by an outside power then society was doomed to fail. The only meaningful salvation comes from within. (Mass education would be a possible answer)
Two examples. An addict can only be saved when they accept there is a problem to be fixed and maintain the path on their own. One who waits for fate to give them victory, or the one who go outs and carves out their own prize.
