No lint in the trap, about to check the vent, anything else I should be looking at?

Clean out the out take pipe and also change out the heating element. I just bought a coin ops washers in New Orleans East

Forreal tho, a coin op laundromat is the best place to get that single black mother pussy

That, or you can drag a $100 bill though the projects.

Did you get just a machine or the whole laundromat?

Upvoted for heating element, typically the culprit if the machine is breathing ok.

it's common for the element or the thermosters to die. you can find the element replacent kit - with all of the assorted thermostats on Amazon. you can Google YouTube for your model of dryer for element replacent. I did mine in 30 minutes. pretty easy.

And if you have a multimeter look for videos on how to test the components. It can save you buying something you don't need.

High limit thermostat was my culprit two times now. It’s a cheap part you can get OEM on Amazon. Easy to replace.

I recommend getting a multimeter if you don’t have one already. Takes the guesswork out.

I got a multimeter what should I be looking for?

Continuity in the various elements. Like for example the user who told you to check your heating element, that’s not necessary unless it’s visibly damaged or doesn’t have continuity. You can pop out the high limit thermostat and if it doesn’t have continuity, it needs to be replaced.

If he's going to be back there with it open may as well change both thermostats and fuses. A kit with all four is under $20.

Heating element probably died. Good time to clean out the vent with a lint lizard

I don't own an laundomat or appliance business but I always seem to get the call when it comes to appliances...

First, check your vent pipe and make sure its not clogged. If so, check the outside flappper to make sure its swinging free. If the flapper is not moving then you might have a clog. A moderately powered electric leaf blower jammed into the vent pipe on the inside of the house might be enough to blow the clog out. Usually a bird's nest but maybe also just build up from not being cleaned. There are also snakes you can probably rent from, like, Home Depot but so far the leaf blower has worked for me. Please dont' use a gas leaf blower in your house. ;)

Beyond that... What make/model and is it gas or electric dryer? Each make/model has its quirks. The set of root causes is often general but the way to address the root cause varies.

The electric dryers often have a thermistor which gets tripped if the vent has clogged and the dryer overheated. For gas, the thermistor often has a reset switch. In my experience the electrc ones either require a new themistor ($7US) or you can take them out and slam them flat on the ground to reset the little bit of metal inside which acts as the safety mechanism. Sometimes that works for ages and sometimes it just buys you the time to get a new thermistor.

Tell the niggers in the bike room to pedal faster, lazy fuckers. . .

[–] 2 pts

Have you checked the level of the dryer fuel?

[–] 1 pt

Personally find they dry faster if you use lighter fluid and a match directly on the clothes before you start the cycle.

Toasty warm and dry everytime.

check the ((element for resistance)) if none element is burned out rare but it happens also check if the timer dial switch is also not making proper contact sometimes it is just off a bit and does not make proper contact and the relay does not kick in to send power to the element move the switch around in a circle when the machine is running listen for a clicking sound that would be the relay switch kicking in if you hear a click its the timer dial not keeping contact constant also it may be the relay it self
if the relay kicks in hold it in place where it clicks on and wait to see if the dryer heats up if it does the relay works and the element works its your dial timer oh and lastly go to youtube and see others attack the problem 8D

I agree with engrish. Heating element if theres nothing blocking airflow.

Alright, all jokes aside. Is it atleast dry? The dryer i mean..

[–] 1 pt

Long story short, I moved recently and my new roommate told me the washer and dryer were both broken. I have the day off, and I just wanted to test them, to see if they are actually broken. Roommate can't fix shit, he also said the toilet was broken and he needed to get a plumber, I fixed that shit in five minutes.

Washer is not broken. The slop sink it drains into is very clogged however. It overflowed when I tested it, so there is some water on the basement floor. Once it dries I am going to check the u trap, and maybe try some draino.

But yeah, basement is wet now.
