Hey everyone, managed to find some of the Durvet Ivermectin paste and was looking for some insight. Ok, I plan on taking it prophylactically, so the first dose I would take would be a full first dose according to my weight, then how often and how much as a maintenance dose? Also, if while I am on it, I contract the rona, should I take a booster dose? If so, how often and how much, and for how long? Thanks in advance..

If you aren't using metric, that is three fifths of a crackers pound.

Are you a healthy person under the age of 70?

Try to find a doctor willing to treat with ivermectin and get their advice. There may be issues with ivermectin if you've got those issues, or if you're on a drug that treats them. I wouldn't risk it over a drug that MIGHT be effective at helping with Covid, which itself isn't all that lethal, unless the doctor recommends it.

There was a 50 comment answer a day or two ago that cover everything very well.

if it's a paste, then just use the screw-cap to point to your weight.

If you weigh 250, then point it to 250 and then plunge out that amount

If you weight 125, then point to it and then plunge out that amount.

you may want to do a "half turn" to split the difference.

It's basically a small teaspoon. You can't mess it up too much. It's forgiving.

But why even use it as a prophylactic? Everyone will get Covid eventually. Just get it first and then use it. If you get sick, celebrate your body learning how to deal with it like a parent celebrates their kids getting over chicken pox.

edit: sorry, i wasn't paying attention. the amount I suggest is if you are trying to get rid of worms. if you are using it as a prophylactic then you do your own measurements.

It’s .2/kg preventive .4/kg post exposure with a close contact and .6/kg for illness.

Find out your kg and times by one of the numbers above that’ll give you the MG’s you need. Each person is different.

Unless those posting comments are medical professionals. I would not recommend anything.

50mg is the standard human dose.

I have no idea how pharmacokenetics translates from animals to humans but it looks like it has a half life of about half a day. That's relatively quick.

For example, creatine has a half life of several days. Vitamin D also has a multi-day half life. So loading and maintenance is something you would do with them.

My guess is it doesn't make sense to load Ivermectin especially if you don't see a pressing need for immediate benefit like exists sometimes with steroids where there is a pressing reason you are taking it right now. Even in anti-biotics which are taken for a pressing need and have a kinetics similar to Ivermectin loading is not really a practice.

Now should you then take it thrice daily and consistently instead of with loading? I would suggest that knowing the mechanism of action and if it impacts sleep would be good things to know first. But consistent dosage seems more the ticket unless sleep is an issue or if it does its job effectively if there is at least one spike of it during the virus's incubation period. If so then consistency might not be that beneficial and may not be worth the impact to sleep. At which point you would take it in the morning with a consistent dose.

Disclamer: I am not a doctor. I'm just capable of thinking through the basic logic of why pills are dosed the way they are.
