That's the real tragedy. If it was one thing we could point to it and say "there, we screwed up there, now let's undo it". But we've had a whole century of it, so there's nothing to undo. The problem is democracy itself, it's nothing more than a fig leaf for plutocracy, and we've been ruled by a rootless international clique ever since we've had enough money to be worth being ruled.
