Federal income tax 1913. National firearms act 1934. Gold confiscated by executive order 1934 and congress hikes gold price 69% 1935. Civil rights act 1964. More gun control 1968. Dollar off gold standard 1971. Machine gun ban 1986.

I suppose I can add your 1965 law to this terrible century too. It's the century that really destroyed America. The seeds were planted in the civil war era but the 20th century was filled with creeping tyranny.

Then in the 21st century we got full banking panopticon with KYC laws. The march continues.

That's the real tragedy. If it was one thing we could point to it and say "there, we screwed up there, now let's undo it". But we've had a whole century of it, so there's nothing to undo. The problem is democracy itself, it's nothing more than a fig leaf for plutocracy, and we've been ruled by a rootless international clique ever since we've had enough money to be worth being ruled.
