Replacing the you in youtube links with hook (so https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntG_EEfpasM would become https://www.hooktube.com/watch?v=ntG_EEfpasM) is also an available alternative to youtube links.

Having thought about this for a long time, I believe the better solution is to use uBlock or another good adblocker, and continue using youtube.

They make no money off of you and you use their bandwidth.

This still makes you dependent on them keeping the video up, and takes energy away from alternate services. It's like piracy, it still benefits the big companies because you don't use smaller ones.

I have shit bandwidth from this trailer park kiosk internet thing. (worse than 90's dial up) It takes about an hour to upload a picture to pic8 then half the time I get an error, hence why my activity in pics is low these past few months. Vid8 actually worked better than pic8 when I uploaded a video though.

It's a simple easy way to post videos. I know.. fuck jewtube but I'm not inconveniencing myself for that.
