That’s the social pressure aspect, and yes I think it plays in (and has strangely massive support from high up) but is not prime causation. Children of the current generation, as a whole, look very different from older generations. Genetics in many places are very similar to older generations, so for such noticeable changes to happen across society it must be widespread hormonal. It can be debated where they came from , vaccines, pesticides (yes like atrazine aka frog water), xeno estrogens from plastics, other hormone disrupters, non stick cookware, nutrient deficient food (bet you don’t get enough iodine or magnesium in your diet) list is long but the evidence remains, Children aren’t the same.
Except they are, just not in ‘modern’ society. Diseases of affluence.
Diseases of affluence.
Yes, like mercury/lead poisoning in the past. You couldn't afford to eat/drink out of pewter, or have doctors "treat" you with tincture-of-heavy-metal. Certainly obesity is a very new phenomenon for poor people.
Looking at pictures of carnivals showing “Worlds largest Man” from years ago showed men who were obese but could still walk. Today every wal mart at every hour can best that. At some point they simply realized it wasn’t an attraction anymore.
Dairy consumption is the disease of affluence I quote most often, one of the largest studies ever done. Countries that consume the most have highest rates of many bone and joint related diseases like porosity and arthritis, countries that have the lowest consumption have healthier old people.
I'm quite skeptical of dairy being bad for you- particularly processed dairy (cheese, yogurt etc).
