On PC use the extension uBlock Origin in your browser. Make sure its the one with Origin in the name
On Android I use an app called New Pipe. There is another one I forget the name of, but neither are available on the app store. https://newpipe.net/
If you're on iOS and not jailbroken, pay google more money or get fucked.
Or you could use a Pihole it works to block adds on iOS but its at the network level not the device level.
Already run pihole. (Also, for the love of god, if you are reading this, set one up) No matter what blocklists I add, doesn’t seem to catch YouTube ads consistently. Am I doing it wrong?
Same. Doesn't block in-video ads
Run PIHOLE HARDER!
Same. I have uBlock origin on my desktop, but watching youtube on phone gives ads. Pihole blocks lots of other shit though, just not that.
Sure, but that only that works when you're on one specific network though.
I am always on my network, it follows me like a puppy I neglect.
iOS I use Brave browser and that blocks the ads for me 99% of the time. Really hard to block ads I use Blokada, none of these require iOS to be jailbroken.
Is the one you're forgetting called Vanced? I use that and love it. It even has the option to skip intros and even skip sponsored content within the video.
That's a nice feature. It probably integrates with the chrome extension SponsorBlock.
I still prefer NewPipe because it doesn't use any Youtube APIs, allows downloading to mp4, and vanced is HUGE for such a simple apk (the bloat shows the dev team's priorities).
Brave browser on iOS doesn’t block them? I keep meaning to try it on mobile
Possibly? I don't own any apple products, but mobile browser YT is trash imo. Sadly, YT is definitely an activity I prefer to be in an app on mobile devices.
New Pipe also supports background play and audio-only.
On iOS, sideload Certube/YouTube++ with AltStore. Need to refresh every week if not jailbroken; worked earlier this year for sure but I need to ask if it still does
