I don't own and have never used an air fryer. Are they useful enough to spend shekels on?

Yes, highly recommend. I have the insta pot brand toaster oven with air fryer. Its a little big but great presets and faster than an oven but slower than a microwave. Reheats leftovers and pizza so they're not soggy. Air fried hashbrowns are not oily. Frozen fries cooked in 15 minutes. Has a rotisserie. The thing is great honestly.

Edit- air fried salmon came out great too.

warms up wings and makes them crispy

Depends how much you like junk food, that's the only thing it cooks better than a regular oven

I don't eat junk food so that seals it.

I like spritzing olive oil and some salt and pepper on broccoli and putting it in the air fryer. it also makes good fried sweet potatoes, too. You can make steaks, bacon, pork loins, etc.

I avoid olive oil. It's EXTREMELY RARELY actually 100% olive oil and is usually cut with soy oil.

Convection oven in a small size. Cool if you eat corn dogs or frites

Nothing that something else won't do. However, if you are just getting started, it would be a worthwhile purchase IMO. You can have sizzling hot 'tater tats within min.

That's what I've been thinking it is, just a new way to get me to spend shekels.

Standard convection toaster ovens rock. Quick heat-up and no big hot oven heating the house.

Its cheaper than heating a full sized oven. Veggies cooked in it are awesome. I HATE brussel sprouts, but cooked in an air fryer they are really good. So is asparagus. Definitely worth owning one.

I guess I'll need to ask around and find a neighbor who may own one.

Like others have said, it's pretty much just a small convection oven. It doesn't really "fry" the food in the sense that a deep fryer does, so if you're expecting that, you will be disappointed. I bought one for my wife, it sits right next to my deep fryer. She uses the air fryer, and I just continue to use my deep fryer. Life's short, I'm going to go to the big sleep one day whether I eat real fried foods or not, and the air fryer just doesn't do it for me. As long as you know how to properly use a deep fryer, I can't say that I'd recommend an air fryer since I can already get what that offers from my oven.

Real talk , you cant fry battered foods in an air fryer .

Yeah, I forgot about that, but I did learn that one the hard way. Also, some things when "fried" in the air fryer don't turn golden brown, like frozen chicken fried steaks. They stay this sort of weird white, but they're still crispy.

Don't get me wrong - we enjoy our air fryer ; but I had a hankering for tempura shrimp the other day and you still got break out a wok and oil . I do prefer a wok and oil to a counter top deep fryer . One shouldn't eat so much fried food to need an appliance , and if used sparingly you don't want the oil sitting around that long .

It's a small convection oven. Had one and used it for a few years, then it broke. Haven't had one for a few years and don't miss it.

A buddy has one, makes fries straight from potatoes quickly and they're really good.
