I had a guy quit on me after the first two hours he told another guy he wouldn’t deal with this hazing bullshit and walked off . He actually thought the work I had him doing was a hazing ritual.

Physical labor can be a bit jarring when you first cross paths with it.

No. I always needed the job more than it needed me and I dont have an abundance of pride.

Nein. I joked about doing it while I was in the military. A lot of us did. Just go out and get a shit job to work for a short time and just fucking quit.

Never did, though.

I haven't, but at one of my old jobs, we had several people walk off each week. The place absolutely LOVED to screw people. They tried to do it to me, as well. I just smiled, laid low, pulled extra overtime to pay off debts and stuff my bank account with enough money to live off for years, put in my two weeks, then went back to college.

OMG, yes! Got a job with the 5th district court of appeals. Yes, that doxes where I live, but honestly, don't give a shit. First government job I ever held. Worked for a black woman. After 5 weeks of sheer torture, I decided I was done. Every cliche about government workers, I observed the very first week on the job. The day before I left, I received 500 business cards, lol. The day I left, and the straw that broke the camel's back, was my boss, who's office was LITERALLY 5 feet from my desk, EMAILED me a RIDICULOUS request. Not only did she have ZERO work for me to perform, l was admonished for not performing any work. Fuck that job sucked in SO many ways. I waited until the entire office went to lunch. 20 minutes before they were due back, walked into boss' office, put the business cards on her desk, and said, "I'm done." Proceeded to leave. Fucking bitch followed me out to my car, the entire time badgering me not to leave, what was the problem, did someone say something to me, etc., etc., etc. No bitch, you're a fucking nigger, all your employees suck, and no, just no.

I'm not being full of myself but every time I've walked off a job the whole place ground to a halt and the other workers followed me to a bar. You'd hear a little voice asking: Do you think he's coming back to work?" as I downed pint after pint.

3 times. Because why not? If you are valuable and know you are, you do not have to put up with bullshit. On top of that, if it is obvious that this is not what you should be doing, God can give me what I need without issue. However, I wouldn't say "walked off", because you need to play the game. Right up the end, you resign properly, and they pretty much walk you off instantly without any negative notions that could be applied to your career. The last job I "walked off" had a 4 weeks noticed period. They paid out my notice period and I walked the next day. Of course, in all of these, God has provided the correct calculations.

The closest I'd gotten was walking out a supermarket job. I'd just gotten a job as an engineer after finishing uni, but the pay was about the same, so figured I'd keep weekend shifts and work two jobs.

After my first week working as an engineer. I wrote a quick letter of resignation in the supermarket break-room halfway through my shift, and handed it to the manager. I had intended to hold off till the end of my shift because supermarket workers are always short staffed anyway, but said "fuck it".

I wouldn't advise it if you are dependant on them for references though.

Also, if you don't want to give notice and work the last few weeks in a real job, tell them you're going to work for a competitor, and they'll make sure you're out of there that day.

Nope, couldn't imagine doing that.

Have had many jobs. Have never walked off of one. Always gave proper notice and respect, even if they did not deserve it.

I've considered it, but I've got too many mouths to feed in a state that's too damn expensive and the safety nets aren't for me because I'm the evil white heterosexual male.

It sucks being a wage slave.
