Probably one of the only women who looked okay with a short hairstyle because she had a small face. Most women look like butch dykes with short hair I don't get it. Way before that. Look at the early 1900s. Flapper girls commonly had short, bob-cuts. Not sure if it started in the early 20th century or earlier. For example, lots of pictures in the 20th century but may have been common long before.

I thought to ask because I've been watching stuff from the 50s and 60s and it really jumps out at you how much the boy's cut is placed on women even then. Overwhelmingly so.
