It has been a while since I've moved. From what I've heard there are much less free sources for moving boxes out there. The grocery store ls don't give them out anymore unless you know someone. Large companies get too much money for their recyclable boxes to just give them out all willy nilly.

Do you guys have any idea where to get free or cheap boxes for moving?

EDIT:

I just went out and bought some good boxes for a normal price. They're so much better than the free grocery store boxes.

Liquor stores. Where I live they just set them out for garbage.

Now that I have not thought of.

Not large...dishes, books, folded clothes. But as they are squar-tanglish, fit good in trailers or pickup beds.

Yeah, I know. But they're durable and have handles. This is an example of quality and quantity.

Even in the paperless environment that we worked in, we ALWAYS had a ton of xerox paper boxes. People would collect and share them for office or home moves.

Check where you work.

We have checked at work and the yields are not sufficient. Checked with the local grocery stores as that has been a goldmine in the past. Nothing. So here I am.

Dumpsters behind Dollar Stores will have plenty.

Go to any copier dealership. They go thru huge amounts of good solid boxes and are more than happy for someone to take them off their hands.

Menards. .60 a pop. Edit- I tried fast food restaurants, and got some. But I underestimated how many we needed, and just bought them.

Cardboard doesn't really pay much unless you have tons, so you may want to ask people you know that work at offices if they have any.

Some places try to reuse them, but I see plenty where I am just go to the crusher/bander and get hauled away for nothing.

I went dumpster diving a while ago. Any strip mall should have some good stuff out back.

Never buy cardboard boxes. There are too many just lying around in stores, waiting to get thrown out.

Go spend $50, buy new ones from depot or Lowe’s. Packing and moving is way easier with all the same size boxes, that aren’t pre crushed, Don’t smell like laundry soap, don’t have their tops cut off.

I will. But it will be nice to have some supplementals.

Go down to Uhaul and buy some there - those are damned good moving boxes.
