I'm libertarian. I want smaller government. Of course the logical, theoretical end would be NO government. But I don't want that.
Likewise, I suppose few of us are against ALL censorship. We just believe in less censorship. Will let you know when our speech is so free that we can't take it anymore.
I consider myself a small-L libertarian in the sense that I don't agree with the Libertarian party enough to join. I'm also for as limited a government as we can get away with, as well as the most speech as possible. Speech that doesn't harm consenting adults is usually where I draw the line.
I'm curious, what would you consider speech that harms an adult?
Revenge porn, comes to mind. Slander and / or libel.
Sure. I hesitate to assume... you're not suggesting that porn doesn't harm consenting adults, are you? The destructive and perverse nature of porn seems self-evident, but maybe I'm just a prude.
I'm not saying that it doesn't harm consenting adults, only that consenting adults should be allowed to harm themselves if they choose to.
Amen, brother. There's a limit ... "FIRE" in a crowded movie house and what not ... same with child porn. SOME government is needed.
Yes, communes can self-govern and what-not ... but when you look at most communes ... the leader is often very cult-leaderish and it comes out that he fucks the kids ... so take that for what you will.
