Easier to forum slide if the community can't downvote. And especially in the case of moderators that micromanage feeds and the potential for 3rd parties that may pay for content to get exposure. The issue isn't even that your votes will disappear in itself, its the fact that you might lull yourself into the sense that upvote/downvote ratios are informative of actual community feedback when they aren't. The voat vote system was superior for a number of reasons, but I suspect the poal vote system is better adjusted to forum micromanagement and aggregating target (funded) material to the audience.
