My mom needs a new laptop since her Dell (which is only around two years old) doesn't work that great. It's slow and I'd prefer she use something else. Any recommendations?

Only thing I will say is in my experience, having a SSD to run the OS with a normal HDD for everything else has been the best way to go. It's how I run my desktop no problem.

If you have a suggestion that has only an HDD, feel free to recommend it. I'm up for anything that works and doesn't cost too much money.

There are two questions before I spend anytime offering any consultation:

  • What is her budget for the new computer and its intended use?
  • If you relay counsel that she acts on and it saves her money, do you get a percentage for your efforts?
