Also, name their generation just for comparison.

parents = boomers
didn't believe in corporal punishment
started out "go to your room" (lol, ok, I have plenty to do in there!)
figured that out, the new and by far WORST thing imaginable = SITTING ON THE STAIRS for HOURS, bored out of your mind, nothing to read, hear, do, see. HOURS of my life spent on staircases

I am considered the last year of the boomers, but don't identify as such. I know for my 23 year old daughter, the worst punishment I could dole out was holding out my hand, as if waiting for something to be deposited. And yes, please deposit your cell phone into my hand because you're done communicating with the outside world until you figure out your priorities. I held off until she was 16 before acquiescing to her having a cell phone, but once she started driving, the pros out weighed the cons.

Me? Parents born 31 and 33. Got the belt once or twice. Wasn't as bad as when they removed my bedroom door from the hinges. No privacy was the worst.

My dad removed a door or two but it was because of us slamming the doors.

The door is an interesting idea.
