Fair points; I certainly don't think Dale Carnegie would've considered himself a Dark Triad / Laws of Power kind of guy. Little did he know what was under the surface of the methods he wrote about
Yeah I think the dude was a good guy who noticed what people like. Maybe he doesn't understand why people like these things, as you pointed out, but still is a good primer for normal interactions.
Edit: "I agree with you. But in this case" is a classic NLP trick I used as an example in my post above.
