So how can I be a more approachable pleasant person? You guys on Poal I have no problem talking to since we're all RedPilled to the max and it's the internet. But in general society and outside of the internet, I'm trying to figure out how to be more pleasant and approachable.

And yes I have social skills for those wondering

No no no no man.

That book is literally "How to be a soy boy." It teaches you how to please people without consideration of yourself. It teaches you to be fake to your own being.

Go get No More Mr. Nice guy or The Way of a Superior Man. In that order too.

If you want to get into the body language stuff just look up NLP instead.

Any book or advice is a tool. Would you deny a man a tool just because it didn't work for you?

I agree with you in most cases. In this case though "How to Win Friends and Influence People" often gives people the impression (especially men) that this will make people like them and make them powerful. This couldn't be further from the truth. A good title for this would be "How to Engage Conversation with an NPC".

PMYB2 was posting the 48 Laws of Power. If you are following that you'll know that a lot of the techniques in HTWFAIP are not useful for influencing people.

Now do I think the book is completely useless? Not at all. But there are many updated and more technical versions of these techniques that are now backed up and refined through research. In my own opinion I believe its too broad and it misses the point on why you would want to win and influence friends in the first place.

Fair points; I certainly don't think Dale Carnegie would've considered himself a Dark Triad / Laws of Power kind of guy. Little did he know what was under the surface of the methods he wrote about

Who's the author of each book?

Edit: What does NPL stand for?

No More Mr. Nice Guy by Robert A. Glover

The Way of the Superior Man: A Spiritual Guide to Mastering the Challenges of Women, Work, and Sexual Desire by David Deida

Neuro-Linguistic Programming. I recommend NLP: The Essential Guide by Dotz or Heart of the Mind by Steve and Connirae Andreas

Gotcha. Thanks for the recommendations. I'll be sure to look into them

Also read those. I don't agree with your conclusion. It pays dividends
