So what's the real life equivalent of an up vote button? Or of writing something then hours later a person responds and you get a flag telling you you were responded to?
I don't get comparing this to real life to justify that the downvote feature sucks.
And if it's such a damn problem why even have it? Or at least why not state what it's intended purpose is?
It's a spergy way to get out of arguing. You have a problem with something someone says but instead of addressing it or ignoring it, you add a gay -1 next to the post.
Worst case is also some fags and their 90 alts mass downvote your entire comment history because you said Trump is zogged.
I don’t think anyone is in favor of downvote spamming with alts. Hell, even at voat people got banned for that
I got unbanned for having an alt. True story.
On voat there was a problem with extra salty users. At a certain point you could have so many upvotes that you could spam downvotes for 5k posts straight and your ratio wouldn’t even break even. I think on voat I had like 8k posts upvoted and 1000 downvoted or something. Anyways, some people would get extra mad at you if you attacked a sacred cow of theirs like trump (especially before the election shit) or Christianity and they would literally keep your post history opened in a second window and refresh it once every few hours and just downvote spam your entire history. Somebody did this to me for 5 days straight and I know of people who had it done by 2 people or just one guy on 2 devices permanently for months. Just every comment started with 0,-2. It was gay as fuck.
Ok then why have the button at all?
Dunno, guess it's used as a "report spam"-esque button.
