I wouldn't doubt that... I know for a fact that some of the cDc guys used to log into my BBS back in the day. They stated in Texas ... I cannot admit or deny any affiliation.
Ha! Good ol' BBS days! Remember getting my 2400 BAUD modem. I was the rockstar in my little group for a while. Filled up those 5.25" double sided disks (thanks to hole puncher) in a hurry!
I remember getting the best gear at the time... went from 2400 to 14.4 the a 56k ... I remember getting a 100MB hard drive and saying "I will NEVER fill this drive up."
Those were the days... When it took 2 - 5 minutes for a picture of a naked chick to load on your page ... and then getting pissed because you waited all that time just to find out she was ugly, or worse ... covering up her boobs.

I'll never forget the strip poker game on C64. Damn we worked hard for a little bit of pixelated nip! Probably could have drawn something more realistic.
Other than going from 300bps to 2400, I think the most significant upgrade for me was tied between always on, unlimited D/L 56Kbps colan and my dual line ISDN. Was pretty sweet to not have to dial up anymore and be able to D/L 24/7 without tying up a phone.
