I recently came across a tweet that read: dear friends older than 37, you don't have to put two spaces after the period anymore. That was the typewriter era, your free.

I'm not going to say exactly what age I am but I'm not older than 37 and I didn't learn to type on a typewriter, I learned on a computer. I was taught it's two spaces after a period and never thought anyone had any different teaching or that someone would think two spaces was just too much to bother with.

Since this is a new idea to me, that I will reject because I see no reason to change my ways and I feel it's the right way but personal bias aside, what do you guys all do when you type? Do you use one or two spaces after a period and what were you taught?

I remember using two spaces when first using computers because I used a typewriter extensively before computers were the norm. I continued that practice for many years on the computer keyboard. Then, one day, someone suggested that I only need one. It was revolutionary to me. Took me a long time to adapt. I felt like you did in the beginning. Like I was committing some kind of grave wrong by not having two spaces. Eventually, through practice and determination, it became natural. I say embrace it.
