if poal were to grow, this is probably the best example I've seen of an idea how.

There is the counter point too. Migrations that large would totally take over Poal. Like they did to Voat years ago.

I would do everything I could to make sure that doesn't happen. No echo chambers if I can help it.

Well what we learned from Voat recently was that a big migration needs guidance from an admin on the new site, new rules, new etiquette. And the earlier the better. Refugees did not get that until a day or two after and by then many had been abused by locals and said fuck it and left. Many deserved the abuse. They assumed it was a new reddit with same rules etc with no one to guide them. Hell, until now their "mods" from reddit still say voat subversive instead of subverse.

Just a giant clusterfuck.

I know you know this, but for the lurker, the slippery slope is how to make something not an echo chamber while not limiting free speech? I think we (you) have done an admirable job so far dealing with issues as they come up and feel confident the same will be applied to more/larger problems as well.

You know I actually cringed when I saw Great Awakening was banned and the new home was Voat. I knew that was not going to go well and many would be left homeless re: the Q movement, unable to deal with the chans.

That's one reason I love to hate Voat. They have the free speech and all, but they keep fucking it up by not having active admins. No one wants to be called a nigger faggot when all they know is those are "offensive" terms. No one to clue them in that "That's The Joke".

That's when an admin makes a global sticky letting everyone know it is done in fun to welcome and haze them. And that is done within minutes of the migration, not days.
