I appreciate the feedback and suggestions I'll for sure think on it. I don't think we want this place to have quite the same immune response voat had at the end of the day but probably some kind of immune response would be good. However and immune response at the end of the day limits speech so there is that to be considered. I guess I don't see the clear cut line as well as you do. I would agree the person is using alts as I saw them reply to themselves forgetting to switch accounts. We do have posts locked after a certain point. We adjust it periodically depending on how active the site is.
I guess I don't see the clear cut line as well as you do.
I’m a business person. You can’t let emotions get in the way. We all want people to be good and follow rules. We all want free speech but don’t let lines get blurred. You’re the boss here. You own this site, it’s your name on the bills.
When the user slipped up and forgot to switch up users did you call him out?
If it was me, I would do my best not to let emotions get in my way of running my site to the best of its ability.
Here’s the thing with a couple businesses I have started, I did become to emotionally invested to see clear. That’s when you need someone on your team to check you. Emotion is good and helps passion projects get started and gain steam but emotions cloud our otherwise steady mindset. Every good project needs a hard ass. I have yet to run a successful business without a shark. There’s just to many predators in the sea and it’s good to have an apex hunter on your squad.
You are doing a good here. Your work and the work of others who help you should be commended. Don’t stop, new ways of trolling will always arise. Stay vigilant and don’t let even the harmless of trolls get away with bullshit.
You are correct it is my name on the bills.
I will keep that in mind, while in my experience you are correct you do need a hard ass on your team to win, there just isn't any other way around it.
I did not call the user out, I thought it wouldn't be appropriate at the time. This wasn't for an emotional reason, points here are largely useless they don't really effect much. So I guess why should I stop them from point farming? What practical purpose would it serve? However if I come down on someone who isn't doing anything other than trying to get a colored name I think I have effectively limited speech. Perhaps my thought process is flawed here, I would welcome someone pointing out how. I am however keeping a very close eye on the accounts in question here.
I've been wondering what to do when the time comes I do need to expand the team, I have yet to even bring it up with the other members. I've been watching the userbase as that is I think the logical place to get the next member.
Thank you for taking the time to respond, you've got me thinking if nothing else which is always helpful. Also thanks for the kind words on the work we are doing here. I am and always will do my best to keep the site running to the best that I can. Except on the odd day off I take.
I’ve got a few more thoughts for you that I’ll write up later.
You’re positive, young and excited about the place you’ve built. I’m very encouraged by the development of this site and look forward to you really putting wings on it.
