Married at 20, husband was 25. We’ll be celebrating 33 years married next month. And now I’ve just outed that I am an old lady hahaha. Had a very rough patch around year 12. Saw it through and couldn’t be happier.
Holy shit 33 years! I hope to make it that long.
That's a common time for rough patches. How did you break through the patch?
A combination of marriage counseling and adherence to the idea of 'til death do us part'. Once the D word (divorce) was off the table (it is now a forbidden word between us), it was a commitment to the idea that we're going to be together forever, so we may as well get back to making it healthy, fun, and rewarding. It was neither easy nor quick, but it truly strengthened us as individuals, and as a couple. I am grateful every single day.
