I find it harder to engage with Minds than Poal.

On Minds if you want to actually be seen by anyone, you have to use their "tokens" to boost your posts.
While you can get the tokens for free just by being a member, there's also the option to buy their tokens.
So it seems to me that they're keeping their engagement levels artificially low in order to make more money from their users.

That's a brilliant point!

Just as an example, two weeks ago I found a meme here on Poal. It was pretty fucking funny.
I carried it over to Minds, and payed three tokens to ensure that it would be seen by 3000 people.
The result was 79 "likes" 26 "reposts", and one comment.

I doubt 3000 views actually reaches 3000 people. I see a lot of boosted content repeatedly on Minds.

Minds was better back when it was in Beta. I like the idea of what they're trying to do, and it looks like it has potential; but unless you join some particular group there that interests you, I don't think you'll get much out of it.

[–] 3 pts

That's sad. You're right that Minds was better in Beta. I was into it for a good while, got bored, and made a new account. I remember much more engagement in the past.

[–] 3 pts

I made an account there like 2 years ago and forgot to ever go back.

[–] 1 pt

You probably didn't miss much.

[–] 1 pt

Me too, except I went back a couple of times, and wondered why I bothered both times.

[–] 0 pt

Me too. They keep emailing me.

[–] [deleted] 3 pts

Yep, everyone there is just talking to a void, and no one responds, like most social.media.

[–] 3 pts

It's sad.

I wonder how much would be accomplished if people couldn't blow off steam shitposting things no one will read.

[–] 2 pts

Probably quite a bit.

[–] 0 pt

Could you please repeat that? I wasn't reading.

[–] 3 pts

Haven't had a ton of time to check it out honestly.

It's something like Facebook. It's not terrible, but isn't very fun for me.

What minds needs to do is focus on social grouping, like facebook does (which contrary to what people claim, is thriving). People like to consume content more than create it, which means minds is focused on the wrong user actions.

If I were running minds I'd be using a combination of hand selection, and algorithm to sell or distribute content to various outlets around the net, and use something like disqus for comments (building a corporate alliance). This gets them 1. views outside their own network, 2. opens up avenues to working with or being acquired by other companies, 3. lets them better fulfill their half of the obligation created by someone using a 'boosted' token.

They have content, they lack the viewers/users. Lots of sites have the users/viewers, but lack cheap content. 'Awareness is the new currency' is a phrase frequently used by vapid cunts, but in this case is true.

I know lots of people say otherwise. That always seemed silly.

It alright. I don't engage there a lot anymore. Hoping they'll federate soon like they say they're gonna.

I have experienced censorship from their news groups, so I avoid it, now.

I will cut and paste my other stuff over there, but I won't put any time into it, anymore.

[–] 0 pt

You can't start your own group?

[–] 1 pt

I could. But it would by nice if news groups actually let you post news.

A mind is a terrible thing.

[–] 0 pt

It's jew owned. I didn't look any further.

[–] 0 pt

It's formatted weirdly and just does not seem intuitive or interesting to me.

I feel like I should like it for some reason, but I just don't.

Probably because it's a free speech alternative to Facebook. It's great in theory.

[–] 1 pt

Yes, quite.

But it lacks that certain crack-cocaine-esque little something that faecesbook has
