It causes people to not see people as people, if that makes any sense, it’s a lot easier to end a friendship on Facebook or over text than it is in person, the ease of text base communication makes it so people have to deal with strong emotions less and so they avoid them rather than learning how to be human much less treat others as humans.

That’s the most accurate answer I’ve read about this topic.

People think harassing online strangers to feel better has become the norm in today’s world. They seem to forget that on the other end there’s another human being with their fair share of emotions.

I have it open and will read it over the course of tomorrow and get back to you. You should post it with your ideas though.

Sorry I've got a lot to do work-wise. Been a while since I read it, but I remember thinking over and over how sane he sounded in the writing and spot on he was with much of his ideas of how industrialization / technology is / was ruining the world as we know / knew it.

Like in the beginning the section on cars. How they were this great liberator for us! Then everything was moved farther from housing so you HAD to have a car to participate in daily life like shopping, eating out etc. Which in turn makes you a sort of slave to your car - payments, insurance, maintenance, licenses etc.

Very interesting mind on that guy and very well spoken as someone of his intellect should be.

I'll make you a rough deal. We read 4 pages a day and ill post this and ping you with my thoughts on it in a week? I mean ill do that anyways but this would give you a chance to re read it. I read the first two paragraphs and he seems coherent and it is a viewpoint I am unfamiliar with.

If you've never read it and just think you know what's in it, you are in for a big surprise. Hint - media lies to us.

Scholars at the time were blown away by how good the paper was, but everyone just labeled him a whacko and moved on.
