Someone here is convinced all animals are sentient and that does not compute with my understanding of sentience. Calling a crow, elephant, dolphin, squid sentient makes sense to me. Calling a dipshit cow or seagull sentient does not.

Language is not inherent in our species. It is a learned ability. Birds chirp at each other with meaning from the get go. Self determination seems to be the only difference between us and most animals. And recognition of self.
