Yep we're on Verizon. Believe it or not the family plan hasn't been that bad. The veterans discount took off about $30 a month. I still think they're ungodly overpriced. And Verizon's answer to that is a subpar budget phone company called Visible. I was on that for 2 years and give it five out of 10.
Verizon can be bad about forcing you to go to certain plans for certain phones.
I'm on T-Mo and have an apple device (yeah I know, but I got tired of fighting android.) I also have an older iPad that's still on 12, no problem with it's cell connection, and you don't have to upgrade - you'll just lose functionality over time as application vendors abandon older versions and finally, as Safari won't work because of changes to the web.
Verizon, on the other hand, may be the evil overlord and say "No more for you!"
This happened to my Samsung S8. The screen turned pink and the whole lower left side stopped working. As far as apps I lost 3 of my banking ones.
My last phone was a 2013 Moto G. I used it up to 2021, when the SSL certs expired. I miss it, but I don't, it was a sweet little phone for $99, but the camera was absolute ass. The camera on the iPhone is good enough that I haven't touched my DSLR in two years.
