Give it time, we will be required to use a mobile device the same way they are used in pet eating China. Old school tech exists and landlines as well.
The limit what you can do with a device you purchase why not what you can buy at the grocery store.

I don’t know about the USA, but this feature is being made mandatory in some countries. That’s where it crosses the line. Putting this into the standard, Android phones that most people use is one thing. Making any phone OS without this illegal is another.
If this is put into stock phones it then the user/owner should be able to disable it or completely remove it. Again, in the final analysis, brick and mortar, landlines, pagers...there are ways to skirt this sort of thing.
I don't think people realize just how controlled, surveilled and self-censored they are today. Mobile and cell devices are the crux of that.
