This is the new “advanced flow” Google promised to allow installing apps from outside of its official app store.

It seems ridiculous (especially the 24 hour wait) if you don’t live in a corrupt, non‐White country where scammers are rampant. Forcing scammers to wait 24 hours while their victim’s phone allows unlocking gives the victim time to think, and to call legitimate people like their bank, or the person who was supposedly kidnapped.

I hate being treated like an idiot, but this is a one time process and it will stop a lot of people from installing some malware that steals everything from them.

I assume any voice call to my phone is a scam, and any text from an unknown number is a scam.

Same here. Unless I am trying to meet people somewhere I have only one person who calls me once or twice a year. Other than that I get about one scam call per week.

The delay when you pick up the phone is best way to spot them. They use an auto dialer, so it takes a few seconds for one of them to see the active line and jump onto the call. They can’t get rid of the auto‐dialer because their scammers would spend 99% of their time waiting for people to pick up the phone.

Hearing the automated voice kick in after a few seconds is just more confirmation that it’s illegitimate.

If they don’t have the automated voice you’ll hear some panicked pajeet jump onto the line and say “Hello? Hello, sar? Hello?”

I rarely hear that now, but it cracks me up every time I do.

I get many many spam calls a week. I have my phone set to whitelist - if you're not in my contact list it doesn't even ring. I had the carrier turn off voicemail, so all the caller hears in the local ringback.

I can't say that I've really ever had a voice call (on my personal device) within the last few years. Everyone texts or uses another channel to communicate with me.

This works well unless you have a business number, then new clients don’t get through. I’ve tried to battle it.

Best I got and it seems to work if I get an unknown caller, I answer hola? Bueno Bueno.

That makes no sense (translated hello good good) but I heard a taco nigger do it so I started. Once I say that there is usually a hang up and I never get more calls from that spammer. It’s like they know there is no money to steam from mexicans.
