I had that issue and it turned out to be people clicking thumbs up or hearts or whatever on previous text messages. Made the noise but didn't show a notification and I found it by accident.

Clever. I didn't think this is it, sadly. I'm not seeing a text and don't use messengers. Not from the browser, those are turned off. Thanks!
