The Galaxy Note 7 was one exception granted by Google.
I would prefer users having the precluded option to change the colour of the battery indicator, rather than Google having such an iron grip on other vendors.
After all, isn't customization one of the main things that set the rest apart from crApple?
It bothered me back in 2014 when it was changed from blue (green on TouchWiz) to boring grey, but in 2015 I realized it is trivial compared to the then emerging non-user-replaceable battery trend (en.EverybodyWiki.com).
I can't remember whether the blue/green icons were distracting (few forum users claimed that), because it is so long past.
