It's doable, but people need to understand how to build a new party. The problem with the alternatives right now is that they're all trying to take a top-down approach. Trying to run for the federal government when you struggle with even name recognition is a fool's errand. You need to start from the bottom and work your way up. That means becoming ubiquitous in local races first and then climbing from there. Local races are also way cheaper to run in and are not nearly as labor intensive to manage.
