Yup. There's no way to "turn off" your own radio. Getting a ham ticket isn't hard. A lot of dealers won't sell you radios without a ticket, so you might as well get it. The thing is, you are required to transmit your call sign every 10-15 minutes -- until you suddenly decide not to. Either way, they can only punish you afterwards. The can't prevent you from transmitting.
