I usually don't like supermarket value brand wine ($3 per 750ml bottle) but I make exception for Tempranillo. If you like the dry Spanish red wine you may find your daily driver in that.
I used to get Big Kahuna temp at Fresh and Easy
I now get Castillo San Simon temp at HyVee
$3 per bottle since about 2007.
Snobby "cool wine aunt" approved, just don't show her the receipt. Better than you think it will be. I think tempranillo is a good low end varietal with great wines available for dirt cheap.
