The FAA made so many bullshit rules that only huge companies that get tons of government bailouts can possibly afford to exist... It will remain this way until someone reads the 10th amendment and applies it to 3-letter agencies like the FAA... Then air travel will be SUUUUUPERRR cheap and planes will be much more common. Massive airports wont be used as much and small autonomous aircraft like the Jetson-1 will quickly replace the car in many situations. ... Don't get me started on goddammed cars and the stupid fucking rules about them that caused those 3 wheeled abominations made by Can-Am to be built instead of us all just running around in 4 wheeled UTVs. 100% the reason they don't add another wheel is because of the US DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION... An unconstitutional agency that exists illegally against the 9th and 10th amendments... It mandates that all CARS have safety features like crumple zones... seat belts... ABS... head rests... etc etc. These must be tested exhaustively costing manufacturers BILLIONS of dollars to test the same old seat belt from 1972 because the body-work of the car changes or they put in a different power seat... Gotta re-test it all over again forever and ever and ever... the definition of a "CAR" that falls under these rules is any vehicle with 4 WHEELS that operates on public roads. Guess what a can-am trike thing is... It is a motorcycle. The reason you cannot blast around in a perfectly safe 800 lb carbon-fiber race car that costs $5000 and gets 120mpg on any fuel and can go 90 mph safely in most conditions is because the DOT blocks that shit from ever being created.

Look up the creation of the FAA... There was a mid-air collision over the grand canyon between 2 planes that killed everyone on both planes. You can bet your ass that shit was fake as hell just like 9-11 but it was an excellent excuse to create a massive and unconstitutional 3-letter agency, claim ALL AIRSPACE in the entire nation, which used to be owned by surface property owners. They claimed the manufacturing rules of aircraft that were not considered "Experimental" and imposed enormous expenses on anyone building an aircraft that would be sold to the public. Today they have gone so far as to almost completely capture drones (which are just tiny toys) in the same draconian system of licenses and bullshit. The reason you don't have an electric flying car for day to day travel locally and have to sit in traffic is because of the FAA. Look up youtube videos about the Jetson-1 and similar machines.
