I didn't want to go at his pace, or play his game. But I suppose by thinking like that, I already was.

yes

You're saying by resisting the game you're still allowing yourself to be ensnared in the game, just on another level?

I see 3 options:

  • anti- - to fight your opponent
  • pro- - to submit to your opponent
  • ignore - to leave the play field

The only problem I see with leaving the field is that if you start off standing in the middle of it, you still need to make your way to the edge of it while the game is still being played around you. You need to make your way to the edge of the ring while you're opponent still pursues and attacks you. On a practical level (as long as you're still trapped in the flesh world) there may not be any difference between resisting your opponent and resisting the game itself.

Sort of, yes

Back to the fighters in the vid above, he (yuki nakai) basically focused on not being defeated by rickson gracie, and this was his mistake, regarding his overall preparation/strategy

He didn't focus on... Something beyond rickson, he didn't focus on victory, on the winning the entire championship

He stopped at rickson, in his mind, from the get go, he was anti rickson, not "pro victory"

...

It's worded like that, sorry it's lame, but I guess you get the overall idea
