I didn't want to go at his pace, or play his game. But I suppose by thinking like that, I already was.

You're saying by resisting the game you're still allowing yourself to be ensnared in the game, just on another level?

I see 3 options:

  • anti- - to fight your opponent
  • pro- - to submit to your opponent
  • ignore - to leave the play field

The only problem I see with leaving the field is that if you start off standing in the middle of it, you still need to make your way to the edge of it while the game is still being played around you. You need to make your way to the edge of the ring while you're opponent still pursues and attacks you. On a practical level (as long as you're still trapped in the flesh world) there may not be any difference between resisting your opponent and resisting the game itself.
