Just off the top of my head, gay marriage. Should gays be allowed to marry or not? It doesn't matter because no one should be going to the State to officiate their personal relationships anyway. Gays have the right to declare themselves officially married under their own authority over themselves and according to their own personal policies, and everyone else has the right to socially ostracise them for being disgusting deviants, according to their own policies. There's no point debating with gays about their policies.

Office politics of course will always be a thing because an office is a gathering place of people who need to cooperate for a common purpose, so they must adhere to a common policy on all things pertaining to that purpose.

You are seeing the state as something different from the will of the people. It can get complicated there, free elections and all that, but I submit that it is the same thing. The liberals rule the House, for example

You are seeing the people as a singular entity, with a singular will. The State may represent the unified will of some people, but it is the enemy and oppressor of all others.
