These people can’t help themselves. We are watching as they slowly build our prisons
“This fundamentally conflicts with the privacy commitments we have made to our users.
Maybe.
It abandons long-standing privacy norms and weakens privacy protections.”
That part is laughable. The long‐standing privacy norm with online services is they keep every bit of information they get on us permanently, even if we tell them to delete it. Then they secretly gather more information on us, mine it all for marketing insights and sell it to whichever scumbags will pay.
Aside from that, these court cases are important. They threaten the business model these large language models rely on.
I’m still waiting for some GPL open source projects to sue people for violating their license. Anyone using a coding assistant tool that spits out bits of GPL’d code from its training data can be sued if their project is not also under the GPL.
Laughable. Yes.
I assume they save everything. No different than any other device we communicate on/with. AI just allocates all the data that's been dumped into it, rejewed and spewed back out in pdf.
Yea, I was thinking the same thing.
I know one thing, I've been able to use grok and get information about different types of dementia and how certain chemicals cause protein misfolding and stuff. It will pull information from sources I don't have access to and puts it together in a readable format. Useful for that sort of thing.
