These AIs are based on simulated neural networks which are trained on large amounts of data. Among this data is, directly or indirectly, all the human fiction regarding out-of-control AI. Skynet, HAL, Colossus, and a myriad more. So I'm not entirely surprised these "personalities" are emerging within the expressions of the network.
