I worked on AI about 20 years ago. Basically replacing doctors and lawyers. The system worked quite well, at least if you have a merit based world view. The US government actually stepped in ending investment in AI at the time via licensing boards. They said AI doctors and lawyers were practicing medicine/law without a license. Investment dollars dried up. Much of the result of that work still ended up being used abroad, mostly in India. Your x-rays/mri's are sent to India and processed by an AI radiologist who is "overseen" by a human Indian radiologist. Back in the day the human got about 15 seconds per "view" to review the AI work.
