Just a waste of money. My boss thinks it's the greatest thing ever and says he will replace us all with it but can't give us an example of it being useful. It just steals code from stack overflow and writes shitty poetry that he thinks is amazing. We all snickered when he didn't realize it was just copying well known poetry that he didn't recognize.
These AI companies are just hyping it up to make some quick cash before people realize it is useless.

The language model is mostly recycled garbage or hard coded bias, I see no real independent thinking so far, agreed. I'm not too familiar with AI code, but not surprised it's junk too. If AI does learn to innovate with code it could be scary, or if it does something create an unbreakable encryption and won't release the key. FWIW, AI does seem to be pretty good at art.
