It wasn't originally like that. It was originally fairly right wing with a ton of constitutionalists. That was the first place I noticed bots and shills were in use, loong before people realized it was a thing. I suspect /. was the testbed for the technology later used for Reddit.

In the early days of /., it was amazing. The majority easily had an IQ above 120, leftist bullshit was commonly destroyed, and discussions were meaningful and provided depth. Most users brought some type of expertise. You can see why they had to put a stop to that. I had a five digit id. Was a good place until turned into a leftist shit hole with bots and shills.
