Well, life happens. I am working on some things and needed something so I printed it.

This is a great example of using 3dPrinting for stuff that might take you a LOT of time or $$$ to get. I was looking for a part that was going to cost me a decent amount and at least 1-2 weeks to get.

Well, Turns out someone has already built a model for both of the parts I needed and I didn't even need to modify it this time. I am standing on the shoulders of others for this but it is awesome to be able to get stuff like this and be able to print it yourself.

I needed a HDD housing and trays for a system I am working on. To buy them would cost a minimum of $40+shipping/etc (in some cases $60+). The drive trays also cost $20-40+ depending on where you sourced it.

However, I was able to print them myself. There were ready made models for both the housing and the drive trays and they are both great (after cleaning them up).

They were not supplied as proper STL's so I had to download the Bamboo software then export it to STL. Worked fine. (I don't have a bamboo, probably wont in the future, maybe some frankenstein thing or something, more than what I have now x.x).

Printed in PLA Infill 30% Using a brim (yes) Layer Height 0.2mm Supports (yes).

Yeah, after cleaning up the supports they look pretty good. Even with my 10+ year old printer that is modded to hell and back. I didn't see any comments about them having issues with heat. I would not expect the case to get that hot but the spinning drives could I guess. If they break down ill have to re-print it in ABS.

Or maybe ASA depending on how hot it gets in there. You will find out soon enough!!

Oh I am sure.. If it fails it will not smell nice.
