I have had a glass bed for a long time but never replaced my (non-glass) existing one. I have been trying to print a few things for a couple of days and I was getting issues with it attaching to the bed and with some very careful observation and pics I saw that my bed was disforming under heat.

Well. I already have a glass bed. Its been sitting around for a while. Yep, when dealing with other things I dive into projects and work so that is what I did. I found the glass bed in storage, printed the brackets and ripped the old bed apart.

I used rubbing alcohol to get rid of the glue (I should have gotten some googone or whatever that is called) with disposable gloves. It probably took me around 2 hours (I let it soak for a long while) but I did use a scraper so the bed is not "shiny" as it would be, not that I care if it works.

The end result is working well. I am getting better bed adhesion and my prints are turning out better. Though, at this point I feel like I have either modified or replaced like 70% of this printer. At some point I will buy another one but maybe I can get this one to a makerspace or something to let other people learn how to hack this shit until it works the way you want.

I will probably do a followup with some videos of prints or something but this is what it is for now.

Pics are probably out of order. You get the idea. Some are of the original bed, some under it, some with the glue, some with the glass and such.

The poal image upload hated me because I guess my images are too big? Ill look into this. See the image posts below....

I don't know how I missed this post. Glass bed? I have so many questions!! but it will have to wait, I have more pressing issues to deal with right now. I will bookmark this to look into later!

Yep, glass bed. Also I figured out the problem with the stretchy filament. I'll be fixing it either today or this weekend and will make a post on it.

So far the glass bed has worked very well.

can you send a link to this glass bed so I can see what it is exactly? Also, when you say Stretchy filament are you talking about some kind of TPU or something?

The glass bed is something like this. Mine has been sitting around forever so it does not have the corners cut. Its Borosilicate. https://www.amazon.com/Borosilicate-130x160x3mm-Polished-Monoprice-Printers/dp/B07FRK6TZX

I had to modify things but this is a basic tutorial for my printer. However, I removed the original printing surface since it was warping under heat and also had to spend a lot of time removing the glue. https://www.instructables.com/Adding-a-Glass-Bed-to-a-Monoprice-Maker-Select-Plu/

The filament I am working with is a flexible TPU. This is the specific one I bought. I did do the mod to fix the printer tonight but I am printing a benchy to make sure I don't need to re-calibrate before trying to print the TPU again. Its currently printing now and will take a while. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CP213ZMG
