Well, I suggest grabbing a older/used Surface Pro then. They can run Linux (or you can leave windows on it). They have a detachable keyboard so you can use it like a tablet but they also run a "full" OS so you don't have to worry about your stuff getting randomly wiped/disabled.
My Wife has a Surface pro 7 that she loves (Make sure to NOT get the X versions, they use embedded windows and I am not sure if you can modify the OS).
The battery life is like 12 hours+ depending on what you do and they are great for travel.
Thanks for the suggestions.I'm under the impression a new 10" android tablet is the easy path for me.
I am due to upgrade my old 2007 desktop. I leave it off until I need to retrieve information related to my business (old subdivision plot plans, files, soil test data, etc). I have it all backed up on thumb drives that are bigger than the 4G internal hard drive! Lol. I have a ~2011 laptop too, heavy/clunky by today's standards and of course the battery is shot and it must be plugged in to operate.
I don't go online with either of them anymore, their windows OS is no longer supported. It hasn't been an issue on line because I use the kindle for all online activity.
My PC died years ago and I switched to tablets.
I'm on my second Samsung tablet. Both are android and have Chrome and Samsung browser. I like the Samsung one better as it has features that Chrome doesn't.
Although I haven't downloaded Brave on either, I'm almost sure I could. I remember putting Dolphin on my old tablet. It sucked, BTW, and I uninstalled it.
First was 7", this one is 10". Been pretty happy with them both.
This tablet is getting up there in years and I've been thinking of getting a new one.
Have no clue how Samsungs are now, but it would probably be the first I would check out.
Here I am holding my 8" and you go bragging about your big 10"! Lol! Color me envious.
I love Samsung TV's, found them to be very good quality since the '90s. If the tablets are as good, I could be in the market for one too. As long as it's an android ... no more Amazon for me ... after the one I'm using now.
yeah, I get that. Plenty of us are nerds here. I would suggest a lot of changes to your data backup plans though.
If you ever want to talk about it or want suggestions on a PC/Laptop let me know.

You feel 2 thumb drive backups are inadequate?
