I kind of feel like we should just go back to vigilante justice. The courts are too corrupt to be of any use in arbitrating punishment. Only reason law exists was to provide retribution to victims in order to end cycles of feud killings in ancient agrarian societies. You can see it has totally broken down in performing it's only purpose in any modern city.
