Yeah, delta variant has more fever element to it. Can't control your core temperature deal. On day 4, extremely less symptomatic, but the fevers linger. Plus, legitimately not having taste after being a careered culinarian, is next level, everything is a texture or temperature.
Yeah, I had the no taste thing too. Things still taste a bit odd, but I've noticed it's mostly highly processed things. I've stopped eating a lot of that and it's actually a blessing.
I'm trying to track down the particular chemical that's causing it. I think it's either sulfa- or char- type stuff (like overly charred meat, cooked sugars, etc.)
Take zinc
I take a decent size zinc supplement. Doesn't help.
Something that I noticed right before I lost my sense of taste was a very noticeable metallic residue in my mouth.
I didn't have that, but if you're experiencing that kind of taste, it can be indicative of other problems. You may want to get a heavy metals blood screen and/or get your oral health checked, and look at what kind of medications (if any) you're taking.
Mine was just a "Here today, gone tomorrow" thing. I literally had breakfast, lunch had no taste besides base stuff (salt, sweet.)
Things to me that still taste odd:
Coffee (but not tea) Charred red meats Charred sugars Processed flavorings (think stuff you get on chips)
Surprisingly, car exhaust can smell the same as coffee to me, which leads me to believe it's the char or sulfur that's causing it.
