Something that I noticed right before I lost my sense of taste was a very noticeable metallic residue in my mouth.
I didn't have that, but if you're experiencing that kind of taste, it can be indicative of other problems. You may want to get a heavy metals blood screen and/or get your oral health checked, and look at what kind of medications (if any) you're taking.
Mine was just a "Here today, gone tomorrow" thing. I literally had breakfast, lunch had no taste besides base stuff (salt, sweet.)
Things to me that still taste odd:
Coffee (but not tea) Charred red meats Charred sugars Processed flavorings (think stuff you get on chips)
Surprisingly, car exhaust can smell the same as coffee to me, which leads me to believe it's the char or sulfur that's causing it.
Yeah, no all healthly. Yeah, that part scares me, I don't want to relearn flavors or have new opinions on things.
I understand.
I have to get a lead screen every so often because I work with solder. It probably explains a lot about me...
